Hello and welcome to the Textile Trunk! This listing is for a matching set- a vintage reversible cloak and bag to match! This is a remarkable piece of historical fashion. This set is vintage and dates to the 1930s. The cloak is made of a wool paisley outer material, and a satinized silk cotton blend interior, which is reversible- both sides are stunning!
The wool paisley side features a black ground with beige and orange paisley print. The satinized silk side is just fabulous- a warm beige groundeith shades of pink, teal, blue, and black floral. The matching bag uses the same fabrics and features a bakelite clasp we believe. The bag is not reversible, but features iridescent blue beadwork and beaded fringe- so stunning!
This cape is photographed from both the paisley side facing out and the silk side facing out- both are beautiful, just depends on your mood! It is all hand stitched I believe and medium weight for both fabrics. The cape has snap closures across the neck and a collar that is longer on one end so it can be elegantly tossed over the shoulder.
There are many other snaps on this textile and I imagine it could be worn in a variety of ways! Truly a wonderful piece of historical fashion, perfect for wear, costuming, or study! MEASUREMENTS : This lovely vintage cape measures approximately: Width at top: 32 inches (not including collar) Width at bottom: 92 inches Length: 44 inches The bag measures approximately: Width at top: 5 inches Width at bottom: 6.5 inches Length not including strap: 9 inches CONDITION : This cloak is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. I do not see many flaws in this textile! There is some fading and discoloration which is common with these vintage and antique finds! I do see one pin creating a pleat in this textile, but this could be taken out! Overall STUNNING, I love this set so much!
